 The Minuwangoda Deputy District Agent's Office was first established in a house located in the Ambagahawatta area on the Minuwangoda-Gampaha road. That was in the year 1973. In the year, this office was moved from the Ambagahawatta area to a house belonging to the church opposite the Minuwangoda Nalanda Pirim Vidyalaya on the Katunayake-Veyangoda road. Later, this house was taken over by the government and the Deputy District Agent's Office was permanently established in that house.
In the terror that took place in the year 1989, an unknown group set fire to the office files and completely destroyed them. Even under that situation, Mr. Sunil Padmasiri, who was the Deputy District Agent at that time, took steps to restart office activities in the old building.
Since the old building was not large enough for office purposes, the foundation stone for a new two-storey building was laid in 1992. The Divisional Secretary at that time was Mr. G.L. Gunasinghe.
Although the office work in the new building was started, the service departments of the office could not be fully established there, so the old house was also used.
In 2007, the foundation stone for a new building was laid to replace the old building and it was opened in January 2008 and the service departments of the Divisional Secretariat were formally established there.
